AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am Betting Preview

AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-AmWorld No. 14 golfer Dustin Johnson is looking to become the first three-peat champion at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am this week on the PGA Tour (Golf Channel/CBS).

Johnson, who has won the tournament the past two years, is a 6-1 favorite to win at Johnson, who is No. 2 in driving distance on the PGA Tour (313), killed the par 5’s last year going 11-under and notching three eagles.

World No. 4 golfer Phil Mickelson, who has won the tournament three times (2007, 2005, 1998), has the next best odds at 7-1.

Outside of Johnson and Mickelson, there is a strong field assembled in California, although the world’s top three golfers – Lee Westwood, Martin Kaymer and Tiger Woods – will be in Dubai for the Desert Classic.

The hottest golfer on the tour right now is Mark Wilson, who already had two wins on the PGA Tour this season and has gone from No. 234 in the World rankings to No. 51.

Wilson won last week at the Waste Management Phoenix Open in Phoenix. The 36-year-old led the field in greens in regulation, tied for fourth in birdies and ranked 11th in putting. He is listed at 38-1 to win this week.

Another player worth a look is Nick Watney, who had a 63 in the final round at Torrey Pines a couple of weeks ago and last week finished in a tie for fifth. He is getting some action on the golf betting board at 13-1.

Behind Watney on the betting board is Tim Clark at 15-1. Clark has five Top 25 finishes in seven starts at Pebble Beach including a tie for 10th last year.

Geoff Ogilvy, who checks in at 17.5-1, made his first start of the year last week and was pretty solid tying for 13th.

Meanwhile, there was a Vijay Singh sighting last week as he finished tied for third. It was his first top-three finish on tour since 2008. He is second in all-time earnings at Pebble Beach and if he plays like he did last week he has some serious value at odds of more than 30-1.

Not to be forgotten this week is last year’s FedExCup Champ Jim Furyk, who is listed at 19-1, and Hunter Mahan who is 23.5-1.

The weather forecast is good through Saturday so there should be some low scores this week at Pebble Beach.
